Equality and Diversity

Equality and Diversity

Vicinity is committed to achieving equality and diversity both in our workplace and in the communities we work in, by ensuring our services are fully accessible and our approach inclusive.

We aim to provide the highest standard of customer care and to ensure all our customers are equally satisfied with the quality of services they receive from us.

Our Equality and Diversity Policy applies to:

• Our governance – our Board of Management and how we are run.
• How we provide services.
• How we recruit, employ and train our staff.

What it means to you:
• We treat all customers fairly and respectfully.
• We are sensitive to your needs and act appropriately.
• We do not discriminate against anyone on the grounds of their race, religious beliefs, gender, sexuality, age or disability.
• We expect all our staff to be committed to the principles of fairness and equality, to ensure a high standard of customer care is delivered to all customers.
• We take action to eliminate harassment and antisocial behaviour, and if reported to us, we will deal with it effectively and quickly.
• We will provide translations, Braille and audio versions of our literature where this is requested.
• We expect all our tenants to refrain from any discriminatory or offensive behaviour.

Our Disability Equality Scheme sets out what we are doing to make sure that disabled tenants and staff are treated equally and receive the same level of service as non-disabled tenants and staff. Vicinity and its subsidiary organisations have prepared action plans to make sure we meet our commitments in the Scheme. We will publish a progress report on the Scheme each December.

Our Gender Equality action plan has actions to promote equal opportunities between men and women, and prevent unlawful discrimination and harassment. We will publish progress reports on the action plan annually.
